Amell M.I.A. in Legends of Tomorrow

The CW officially green-lightsrobbieamellandfirestorm.jpg DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, but Robbie Amell is conspicuously missing from the list of cast members.

Legends of Tomorrow is DC Entertainment’s fourth show on the CW following Arrow, The Flash, and iZombie and is set in the same universe as both The Flash and Arrow.  Amell plays half of the superhero known as Firestorm, established in The Flash.  Firestorm’s other half is played by Victor Garber (Alias).  Garber is confirmed as a member of the cast along with Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) as The Atom and Caity Lotz (Arrow) as Canary, characters established in Arrow.

Why take the time to introduce and establish Firestorm if Amell is not to reprise his role in the new series?  It could be that he is yet to be announced, but it may as simple as a scheduling issue.  Amell is a busy man.  The actor has two upcoming films, Anatomy of the Tide, scheduled to be released later this month, and Nine Lives, a film Amell tweets will be released April 2016.  The future is bright for Robbie Amell.  We will have to see if he continues to light up the screen as Firestorm.

The official synopsis for Legends of Tomorrow:

“When heroes alone are not enough…the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?”
