Cavill Says “Batman V Superman” Is Not A Sequel

Contrary to popular belief, Batman v Superman is NOT a sequel to the 2013 release Man of Steel. Yes, the role of Superman is played by the star of MoS, Henry Cavill. But Cavill himself said that BvS is not a follow up film.

In a recent press junket at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Cavill responded to an MTV reporter’s question about seeing anything relatable to Batman v Superman, as the reporter called it a sequel.

“I’ve only seen a little bit of ADR stuff, but that’s it, and that wasn’t even in color. I’m hoping to see it [the whole movie] some time this year, for a friends and family screening or something. But I really know nothing about what the finished product looks like. I wouldn’t call this a Superman sequel. This is Batman versus Superman, so it’s a separate entity altogether. It’s introducing the Batman character, and expanding upon this universe, which was kicked off by Man of Steel. It’s an introduction to the [Batman] character, and ultimately an introduction to ‘Justice League.'”

So there you have it, from Superman himself.

You can judge whether or not it’s a sequel. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25, 2016. Henry Cavill can next be seen in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. on August 14, 2015.
