Malina Weissman has played younger versions of comic book characters before. She first played an adolescent April O’Neal in last summer’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And now she has been cast as young Kara Zor-El in the new Supergirl series.
First Photos Reveal Melissa Benoist as Supergirl
The series will focus on Kara deciding to reveal her powers to the world, and follow in the footsteps of her cousin Superman to become a hero.
Weissman joins an ever-growing cast, including Melissa Benoist (Glee and Whiplash) in the title role, Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal) as Cat Grant, Mehcas Brooks (True Blood) as Jimmy Olsen and David Harewood as Hank Henshaw.
Big screen Supergirl star Helen Slater and former Lois & Clark star Dean Cain will also guest-star in undisclosed roles in the series.
