Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg talks season 3 of Arrow, Ra’s al Ghul, The Atom, and Olicity in an iTunes exclusive 5-minute clip.
Warner Bros. took down the clip only hours after a fan uploaded it on youtube, but those with an iTunes season pass can still take a look at the upcoming season as Kreisberg discusses the theme of identity in relation to the characters: Is John Diggle (David Ramsey) a father or is he a soldier? Is Thea (Willa Holland) Thea Queen or Thea Merlyn? Can Oliver (Stephen Amell) be Oliver Queen and The Arrow? Finding balance will be a season-long struggle.
Kreisberg went into detail about fan favorite Felicity Smoak (played by Emily Bett Rickards) and her relationship with Oliver, the date that comes to a tragic end, and the very real possibility of Felicity exploring other options.
They clearly have a very strong bond and there’s clearly love there. This season is really both of them wrestling with, is there any world in which this could ever work? And there are other options for Felicity, namely in the form of Ray Palmer, a.k.a. The Atom, played by Brandon Routh. You look at the chemistry he and Emily have, and it’s just off the charts. He’s a strong rival, he’s a good option for Felicity.
Also in season 3, all past sins will come to the forefront, namely Roy’s. Last season, while under the effects of the mirakuru, Roy (Colton Haynes) went on a rampage, killing several bystanders. As far as flashbacks, this season will have Oliver off the island and in Hong Kong where we will see how he met Amanda Waller (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) and the origin of the Suicide Squad. Kreisberg confirmed that along with new characters, fans will be seeing characters from the past in present day time and vice versa. Kreisberg even teased the return of Deathstroke.
Arrow returns Oct. 8 on The CW. Episodes are available on iTunes, Amazon and other streaming services the following morning and can be purchased at a discount when you preorder the full season.
