Recently, DC/Warner Bros. released a full slate of release dates for 9 upcoming films (not including Batman v Superman) in their DC Cinematic Universe, running all the way out to 2020. But now, we get a glimpse of what some of these movies might actually be.
Warner Bros. has taken the next step by registering four domain names for future DC movies, all of which reroute to the current WB website. And here they are…
These titles aren’t really a surprise. We’ve all known that WB had plans to do a Justice League movie, rumored to come directly after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. A Wonder Woman film is a logical one to make, seeing as there is a huge demand for a strong, female-driven superhero film, and with the fact that the Amazonian Princess is set to make her first big screen appearance in BvS.
We also had the recent report of Jason Momoa taking on the role of Aquaman, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson confirmed he will be in an upcoming Shazam film, but not which role he’ll be playing.
Back in June, Hollywood Entertainment columnist, Nikki Finke released a possible schedule for the upcoming WB/DC film universe.
• May 2016 – Batman v Superman
• July 2016 – Shazam
• Xmas 2016 – Sandman
• May 2017 – Justice League
• July 2017 – Wonder Woman
• Xmas 2017 – Flash and Green Lantern team-up
• May 2018 – Man Of Steel 2
Obviously, this was before the release date switch for Batman v Superman from May to March, and the subsequent release date schedule put out by WB. But, if this was a rough initial layout for their plan, then it’s very close to what may be on the way.
Batman v Superman is obviously set to release on March 25, 2016, with the next film set for August 5th. But if you look at Finke’s lineup, it includes Shazam, Justice League, and Wonder Woman within the first four films. If you replace Sandman with Aquaman, then these could very well be the first four films we will see.
Using that logic, here is a possible slate for these films:
• March 25, 2016 – Batman v Superman
• August 5, 2016 – Shazam
• June 23, 2017 – Aquaman
• November 17, 2017 – Justice League
• March 23, 2018 – Wonder Woman
I would personally rather see a Wonder Woman movie sooner than 2018, maybe swapping her film with Aquaman’s film.
If this were to be accurate, what are your thoughts? Do you like this line up? Would you rather see something else in one of these slots? Let us know in the comments what you think.
