WARNING: SPOILERS
Summary:
The Green Hornet and Kato deduce that the Joker and General Gumm are seeking to steal the priceless roman coin collection at the Gotham Currency Museum. They set about pretending to rob the museum in order to slip a tracking device on one of the coins. But the Dynamic Duo appear to foil their “robbery”….
Positives:
This issue flows very nicely. It’s enjoyable to see the Hornet and Kato go through their plan step by step, calmly, methodically and without fuss. It’s a pleasant contrast to the Dynamic Duo’s constant melodramatics.
The Green Hornet and Kato’s plan is fairly clever, aside from a few things I’ll mention in “Negatives”. Robbing a museum was a great way of achieving their goals while enhancing their desired reputation as supervillains. I also liked seeing how much emphasis the two put on not hurting innocents during their pretend heist.
The Green Hornet fights the Dynamic Duo yet again in this issue, but it’s less irritating as we spend most of the issue focusing on Britt Reid and Kato building an illusion of criminality.
Negatives:
Did the Green Hornet and Kato once consider that pretending to rob a museum wouldn’t bring the attention of the Dynamic Duo? Wouldn’t it have been simpler to just visit the museum on a private tour as wealthy young publisher Britt Reid and then covertly slip a tracking device onto the goods?
Verdict:
BATMAN ’66 MEETS THE GREEN HORNET #7 is another fine chapter in this miniseries.
