Joe Kubert: Enemy Ace Artist’s Edition will be flying into comic shops this November from IDW. Following on the heels of such blockbusters as Jack Kirby: New Gods Artist’s Edition and the recently released Steranko: Nick Fury Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Artist’s Edition, this is yet another book not to be missed!

The suggested retail price on these books is usually around $150.00, which seems a little steep at first, but at 150 pages that works out to be a $1.00 a page. If you started saving $10.00 a week now, you would have $160.00 before November 1st. Making this book more affordable than you think!

San Diego, CA (July 16, 2014) -Reimaging the popular war stories that filled the pages of comic books throughout the 1950’s and 1960’s, Joe Kubert’s Enemy Ace made an unlikely hero into a genre icon. The classic tales of airborne suspense that first thrilled readers over 50 years ago, will make their mark all over again with Joe Kubert Enemy Ace: Artist Edition.

Created by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert in 1968 as an alternate take on the highly successful war-based comics, Enemy Ace introduced a hero that by all superficial definitions was a villain. A high-flying pilot for the Germans, Hans von Hammer was a star soldier but morally conflicted by the duties that his role demanded

“I’ve loved every single one of our Artist’s Editions, but for me, this is the big one,” said Dirk Wood, IDW’s Vice President of Marketing. “Ask Scott Dunbier, I’ve bugged him about the possibility of this book since pretty much my first day at IDW. Kanigher and Kuberts Enemy Ace was my absolute favorite comic as a kid, and remains so to this day. To see that material again, in this format, is going to be something special.”

Joe Kubert: Enemy Ace Artist’s Edition presents five entire issues of the decorated DC Comics series Star Spangled War Stories, including #139, 140, 141, 142 and 144. Scanned directly from the original art, this complete collection will also feature bonus material like covers and promos. At over 150 pages, the Artist Edition measures  at 12″ x 17″.

The masterwork joins the two Artist’s Editions that already showcased Kubert, Joe Kubert’s Tarzan of the Apes and Joe Kubert’s Tor.

My love of comics started at the age of 5, when visions of mythic beings fought their way across my TV screen. Batman '66, Super Friends, Wonder Woman, and Superman '78 filled my early childhood with imagination and adventure. Soon enough I found the spinner rack! Batman, Justice League and DC's Who's Who kept me coming back for more. I've seen the death of hope, justice broken, a light extinguished, and a universe torn! A kingdom come, the lightning return, a triumph of evil and a multiverse reborn!
