Adrien Brody Says He’s Interested In ‘The Joker’

The Joker is one of the most infamous comic book villains ever created.  Making his first appearance back in 1940 in Batman #1, we have seen many different incarnations, from animated to live-action, and he has been portrayed by the likes of Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson, Mark Hamill (voice), and most recently, Heath Ledger.  But one actor has decided that he’d be interested in this iconic role, if he finds himself in contention again.

Adrien Brody was on the short list to play The Joker in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, but ultimately lost out to Heath Ledger who did an amazing job with the character.  Well, now that a new Batman universe is being created, it is inevitable that Batman’s archenemy will be reimagined as well, and Adrien Brody is interested at taking another shot at it.

This is what Brody had to say:  “I would do it if I feel I can contribute something valuable and that the role would be interesting to me because they’re long journeys. To me, the villains are way fun!” said the Oscar winner. “But they don’t offer me those roles. If there is an opportunity to do something like that and play a comic book hero or villain, that’s not something I’m fundamentally opposed to.

Nothing has been revealed as to whether or not The Joker will play any sort of role in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of JusticeJustice League, or any of the future Batman films starring Ben Affleck. However it’s nice to hear someone that is interested in taking over the face paint of this iconic character, ready to put their own spin on things.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in theaters everywhere on May 6, 2016 and Justice League is expected to come out in 2018 at the earliest.  Stay tuned to DC Comics News for all your Batman, Superman, and other DC related news.
