As you may or may not know, Morpheus first appeared in Ovid’s Metamorphoses, making him Roman. You know what the Romans loved? Greek mythology, poetry, the ruthless conquering of other nations and peoples… oh, and statues. Designer J.H. Williams III and sculptor Dave Cortes may not be from Ancient Rome (I’m assuming), but those who were would probably have appreciated this beauty:
Now the old Roman statue tradition lives on in one of their mythological characters. This Sandman: Overture statue is a work-in-progress. We can’t wait to see when it’s done!
