COLLIDER: Punky Artwork Preview

New sci-fi series, Collider, previews some of its artwork. Click the jump to see more.

Plot: It started small: temporary gravity failures, time reversal loops, entropy reversals. With much fanfare a new government agency was formed with a mandate ‘to prevent and protect.’ Its official title: The Federal Bureau of Physics. Humans, if nothing else, adapt to the changing parameters of their existence. What was extraordinary soon became ordinary, a part of people’s daily lives. They move on and do what people have always done: survive. But even that new status quo is now under threat. Things are getting worse, and it falls to Special Agent Adam Hardy and his FBP team to figure out what’s going on, before it’s too late.

Probably one of the best ways to describe this new sci-fi Vertigo series is that it’s very punk! This is not only punky because of the neon collider4.jpg hot pink and bright green colors done by Rico Renzi (colorist) or the realistic line art by Robbi Rodriguez (artist of acid western, Frankie Get Your Gun and Polly & the Pirates); the plot of the new sci-fi series is also punky and intellect!  Simon Oliver (writer of Gen 13) is writing about the philosophical and conceptual laws of how physics has become a natural everyday thing for the characters in his new series, Collider.

Now, physics is not really a subject readers indulge into but the way Oliver is going to approach this subject is quite down to earth. Robbi Rodriquez (artist of Collider) describes the new series as, “a mash-up of Bruce Springsteen and Kurt Vonnegut—blue collar sci-fi.” Anyone who knows Rodriquez knows that he is the kind of artist/writer who likes to make stories for the everyday person similar to his Frankie Get Your Gun webcomic. His approach to this series is to make the artwork as visual as possible with psychedelic colors by Rico Renzi. It’s a punky, fresh take on the sci-fi genre and it’s going to be bad ass!

Get this new series on July 10th by Vertigo.
